Westland/Tai Poutini National Park, adjacent to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, is part of Te Wahipounamu - the Southwest New Zealand World Heritage Area. The park is home to the Franz Josef and Fox glaciers. Dense rainforest, impassable gorges, scenic lakes, steep mountains, and low wetlands are all contained within the park boundaries.
